A step by step guide to using over a dozen helpful functions in Google Sheets.
The video focuses on parsing data from cells, filtering lists and returning data from other tables.
Follow along with the exercises by creating a copy of the sheet shown in the video. Your copy will conatain blank and completed versions of the Exercises sheet
There is also a Walkthrough sheet, which will show you each function used in the video.

  2. Find the domain from an email address - LET and MID
  3. Make a list of non-repeating domains - SORT and UNIQUE
  4. Find out how many times a domain appears - COUNTIF
  5. Convert a vertical list to headers - TRANSPOSE
  6. Create a list with criteria - FILTER
  7. Return information from another range - INDEX and MATCH
  8. Add a range in another sheet based on header - SUM and INDIRECT
  9. Create a list from multiple ranges - VSTACK

Fictional Retail Company

The Fictional Retail Company sells the Amazing Thing in 8 different colors and the Nice Extra in 2 colors.
Their online store and two California locations are the only places you can find these items.

Review the Sales Revenue, Units Sold, and more on the Yearly and Monthly sheets.


Each sheet can be filtered by 3 different dropdowns, Product, Employee, and Store.
The Monthly sheet can also be filtered by Start and End Months.


Create your own copy of the sheet to review the formulas and underlying data.
